On October 3, 2021, the 15th meeting of the Council of the International Network AML/CFT Institute (INI) was held at the "Sirius" educational center. Taking part in the event were the representatives of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, Russia’s ministries and agencies, educational and scientific organizations that are members of the INI, as well as heads of financial intelligence units of the CIS member countries.

In view of the fact that the "Sirius" educational center simultaneously hosted the final stage of the first International Financial Security Olympiad for pupils and students from the Eurasian region countries, the speakers paid considerable attention to this event. Opening the meeting, Yury Chikhanchin, Chairman of the INI’s Council and Director of Rosfinmonitoring, emphasized that the main task for the INI’s participants for the coming Olympiad week was to identify the best approaches and methods planned to be applied during the Olympiad events in order to use them in the future.
A. Seryshev, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation, noted in his speech that the Russian government pays much attention to the development of creative potential of the youth, support of talented senior pupils and students in different fields of activities and scientific research. Of particular note is such a complex and multidimensional area as financial security.
D. Afanasyev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, called the Financial Security Olympiad an example of effective partnership and interagency cooperation, which solved the task set by the President of the Russian Federation V. Putin: establishment of a new international platform for the selection, assessment and vocational guidance of talents in the most important area that ensures social and economic development of the country and its security.
V. Ovchinnikov, First Deputy Director of the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring and Director of the INI, reported on the work completed in the reporting period, as well as on the nearest plans of the International Network AML/CFT Institute. Presentations were also delivered by the heads of the educational and research institutions – members of the International Network AML/CFT Institute from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
The Council participants accepted for further consideration the applications for INI’s membership submitted by new universities from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Russia and under the Protocol approved assignment of the INI’s educational and research institutions management and coordination function to the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring.
