V. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University traces its history back to Taurida University, the first higher education institution in Crimea established in 1918.
Today, Crimean Federal University is the tenth and the youngest federal higher education institution in Russia that was established in 2014 after reunification of Crimea with Russia through a merger of large educational institutions located across the Crimean Peninsula.
Crimean Federal University is among the best Russian higher education institutions and holds the leading position in training of highly-qualified human resources in the region. The University comprises 13 institutes, 6 colleges and 1 technical school that train students for highly demanded jobs in the agricultural, public health, economic, engineering and IT sectors.
The University divisions and branches are located across the Crimean Peninsula. The University academic and teaching staff involved in the higher education programs includes over 1,700 persons, of whom about 300 persons have Doctor of Sciences Degrees and over 1,400 persons have Candidate of Sciences Degrees.
The University provides training under over 170 bachelor’s degree, specialist’s degree, master’s degree and internship programs and also trains students under the secondary vocational education programs.
About 30,000 students, including over 2,000 foreign students from more than 50 countries across the world, are studying at the Crimean Federal University under the educational programs of different levels and forms.
